Web Video Caster is an app that makes it simple to cast online videos from your phone to televisions and other devices.
When it comes to the Web, casting is a term that refers to sending images or video wirelessly from one device to another. A common scenario is casting videos from a smartphone to a big screen TV. Web Video Caster is an Android app that makes it simple to discover, download and cast all kinds of videos.
Web Video Caster can work via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, and it’s compatible with just about any media device that supports DLNA, which is a standard by which devices can share content. The app also supports subtitles, annotations and so forth, and it can keep text and audio in sync with the video it casts.
The app features an integrated search bar, and it provides results that you can peruse as well as filter and otherwise manipulate. Web Video Caster even supports dictating which search engine it uses, and once you have two or more search engines configured, you can switch them with ease. This is particularly convenient when one search engine is better for a certain type of content.
Streaming video while its being cast to another device is an option, but you also have the option to download the content. A local copy can make the playback more consistent. It can also let you view it later when you lack Internet access. Furthermore, the app has a built-in download manager not only to manage the downloads but to manage the videos that are archived on your device.
Web Video Caster also has a number of tools to help you keep track of the videos you’ve watched. A recent videos tool lets you go back days or even weeks if you choose. You’re also able to bookmark videos, which is convenient for videos you watch regularly but don’t want to download.
Web Video Caster is fantastic when you want to kick back, surf the Web and watch the videos you find on your big screen. It works with smart televisions as well as Roku, Xbox One and much more. It has a simple interface that lets you play, pause, fast forward, rewind and much more.
One thing that Web Video Caster does not do well is deal with videos discovered outside the app. If you’re just surfing in a web browser and come across a video that you want to cast, there’s no easy way to do that. You have to copy the link and paste it into this app, which is all a bit clumsy.
Pros
- Integrated search
- Download manager
- Bookmark support
Cons
- Lacks support for videos outside the app
Fix for casting videos to receivers from phones that are configured to use the Turkish alphabet and possibly others.
